Dahal, Oli discuss govt formation, NA ordinance

Dec 27, 2017-CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal held a meeting with CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli at the latter’s residence in Balkot, Bhaktapur, on Wednesday.

Dahal reached Oli's residence at 1:30 pm for the much-waited meeting. The Maoist Centre chairman refused to speak with mediapersons after the meeting.

The meeting between the both chiefs of left alliance parties follows widespread criticism over lack of serious discussions regarding the formation of new government.

CPN (MC) Chairman Dahal was on a visit to his constituency and home town Chitwan for the past three days and returned to Kathmandu on Tuesday.

It has been learnt that the leaders discussed the National Assembly (NA) ordinance, and formation of new government and party unification, among other issues.

According to Oli’s press coordinator Chetan Adhikari, the two leaders discussed formation of a new government.

Both the leaders have said that the incumbent government should step down to make way for the formation of new government, Adhikari quoted Oli as saying.

“The government itself should take an initiative to resolve the issue of ordinance pertaining to the National Assembly election. There is no alternative to revoke the ordinance,” said Oli.

The two chairmen reportedly reached an understanding to take the party unification process ahead by easing the political environment.

The process of party unification would be taken ahead by summoning a meeting of the coordination committee within the next few days.
