Rekha Thapa’s full circle with Hero Returns

Dec 26, 2017-For the past decade, Rekha Thapa has ruled the roost among Nepali film actors. Her irrepressible confidence and her fleeting associations with different political parties continue to make her the talk of the town. Since debuting in Hero in 2000, Thapa has starred in about 30 films; her filmography includes hits such as Krodh, Hifajat, Kismat, and Himmatwali, among others.
Thapa is slated to begin the year 2018 with the film Hero Returns, which, according to producers, will be a nostaligic venture for her and will add another feather to her storied
legacy that started with 2000’s Hero. The film is slated to hit the screens on May 11, 2018.
Even though the principal photography of the film was finished long ago, the film was stored in shelves for years, owing to the need to reshoot some of the film’s sequences.
“Hero Returns targets those audiences who have been following the Nepali film industry back from the days of the original movie Hero,” said producer Sabin Shrestha, who also stars alongside Thapa in the film. “So as to give the viewers a bang for their buck we knew that some sequences need to be reshot, so as to maximise the merit of the film.”
Directed by Aashish Bhetwal, Hero Returns is being touted as an action-comedy. Filmed under the banner of Sabin Films, the film features actors Dil Shrestha, Saroj Khanal, Suleman Shankar and Roshan Shrestha, among others alongside Thapa and Shrestha.
According to producers, the film will premiere in Qatar, Australia and London, before it hits Nepali screens.
