UML Chair Oli dissatisfied over authentication of NA ordinance

Dec 29, 2017-CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has expressed dissatisfaction over the authentication of the ordinance related to the election of National Assembly (NA).

Amid pressure from several quarters, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Friday authenticated the much-awaited ordinance on NA election, paving the way for the formation of upper house.

Inaugurating the 27th general assembly of the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) on Friday, Oli, who appears set to return to power, said, “We are dissatisfied over the endorsement of the ordinance. The ordinance which is endorsed through pressure from several quarters in a wrongful way is itself unconstitutional. The president’s move is not constitutional.”

Saying that the incumbent government is dilly dallying to hand over the power at a time when the left alliance has secured a resounding victory in the parliamentary and provincial elections, the former Prime Minister made it clear the left block would not make additional issue of the ordinance.

Leader Oli said, “We will make majority government of the left alliance. Good governance will be established, corruption will be curbed and peace and stability will be institutionalised in the country.”

On a different note, Chairman Oli opined that the new government will make up important decisions and appointments made by the incumbent government.

UML leader Oli said that the new government will make realistically balanced relations with both India and China.

Speaking at the same programme, UML Secretary Pradeep Gyawali said that the country would head towards the path of economic prosperity as the political calendar has already been completed.
