98 Degrees is going one step further to help an employee who was shot near Lachey's sports bar in Cincinnati.
Elizabeth
"Ellie" Richardson, 27, was shot in the face on Thanksgiving while
walking across the street near the sports bar, Cincinnati Police
Department spokesman, Sgt. Steve Saunders, told ABC News.
Richardson,
who has a 3-year-old child, was hospitalized with serious injuries,
according to a fundraising website for the newly engaged woman. She
suffered injuries to her face and jaw but was in stable condition.
Nick and Drew Lachey, two of the group's members, opened the bar in 2015.
The band announced Friday that it would pause its "At Christmas" tour to host a charity concert to benefit Richardson.
"Cincinnati
— This city has a special place in our hearts, which is why we’ve added
another show to support a member of our community. We hope you’ll join
us on Dec 15th at Aronoff Center. Tix are on sale now & ALL proceeds
go directly to Ellie’s recovery," the band said in a tweet.
Nick,
44, and Drew Lachey, 41, also posted a video encouraging their fans to
buy tickets to the benefit concert. Nick Lachey called Richardson "an
overall incredible person."
Added his brother, "We'd love to see you there and thank you for the support."
This
comes after Nick Lachey pleaded with the public to help find the man
who perpetrated the crime. Saunders told ABC News today that Cincinnati
Police are still looking for the suspect, a man in his 20s with
gold-rimmed glasses and a beard.
"Our
investigators feel that they are making progress in this investigation
and they are determined to bring this case to a resolution," he added.
