Elections 2017: 50 pc votes cast till 2 pm [UPDATE]


 Dec 7, 2017-Election Commission has stated that 50 percent votes have been cast in average as of 2 pm in the Federal Parliament and Provincial Assembly elections being held across 45 districts of the country on Thursday.
According to Joint Election Operation Centre of the EC, the elections are being convened peacefully in all polling centres with enthusiastic participation of the voters.
The voting started from 7 am today to elect 128 House of Representatives (HoR) and 256 Provincial Assembly (PA) members.
Elections for 37 seats out of 165 HoR members and 74 seats out of 330 PA members were conducted in the first phase in November 26. The first phase elections were held in 32 districts.
Although the voting will be officially closed at 5 pm, the EC has stated that the voters who have already entered the polling centres by 5pm will be allowed to vote.
As many as 12,235,993 eligible voters are exercising their franchise in their respective election centres affixed in 15,344 polling centres of 7,752 polling stations of 45 districts today.
