Georgia Man Allegedly Used Taser on Woman He Raped Over 24-Hour Period

Georgia police say a young woman is recovering with family after allegedly being held against her and sexually assaulted, PEOPLE confirms.
According to a statement from Gwinnett County police, officers were dispatched to a home on a report of a possible rape on Nov. 24.
They arrived to discover the alleged victim naked, with rope binding her wrists together. She had run to a neighbor’s home for help, and the neighbor removed duct tape that was wrapped around her head and neck.
The woman, from California, allegedly told police Thuan Q. Dinh, 39, drove to California and brought her back to his home in Buford, Georgia.

Soon after arriving at Dinh’s home, investigators allege he tied up the woman before raping her and using a taser on her, according to the statement.
She allegedly told detectives she was beaten and sexually assaulted over a 24-hour period, and that he left her in his basement before heading out. At that point, the statement says, she seized the opportunity to flee and seek help.
Dinh was arrested and charged with rape, false imprisonment, robbery and aggravated assault.
He was apprehended on Wednesday, after allegedly spending days on the run, according to the statement.

Dinh has not entered pleas to the charges against him and does not have a lawyer who could comment on his behalf. He remains behind bars without bond.
The statement adds that a search of Dinh’s residence allegedly turned up a “large amount of suspected marijuana.”
