President Donald Trump's first wife Ivana said he never changed diapers or played sports with his children while they were growing up.
Ivana, 68, was asked during a television interview with The Ray D'Arcy Show that aired Saturday night whether her former husband was the type of father who changed diapers. Ivana quickly shook her head with wide eyes and told the host, "No way. No no no, no way. Nope, never changed a diaper."
Ivana — who is
the mother to Eric, Donald Jr. and Ivanka Trump — added that Trump
"loved the kids, but he would not really be the dad who would take them
for a stroll in the Central Park in the stroller or go and play soccer
with them or do something like that. He was always on the phone making
the business."
Trump also rarely had time to send his kids off to their private schools
in Manhattan because of his demanding business, according to Ivana's
book "Raising Trump," which details her memories of raising the three
kids alongside her husband. She said the children regularly traveled
from their sixth-floor penthouse in Trump Tower to the 28th floor where
their father worked to say goodbye before school, Ivana said.
"And he was always on the telephone," she told the
host. "He was a good, loving dad, but he could not do... the kids' talk.
He did not know how to do that until the kids were in university and he
could talk business with them."Don't miss: Five Black New Jersey Churches Attacked, Police Investigating As Hate Crimes
Ivana and Trump were married for 15 years before divorcing in 1992. Trump then married Marla Marples, the mother of Tiffany Trump, in 1993. The duo divorced in 1999 and Trump married Melania Trump in 2005. Ivana speculated that Trump is "missing a little bit of his old life," where golf outings and frequent visits to Trump Tower and his Mar-a-Lago resort were normal.
"Now, every
morning from eight o' clock until midnight he is working working
working," Ivana said. "Everybody shoves at him the problem of the
country... I don't envy him. I think he must be freaking exhausted. I
would be, too."

Ivana joked that as the president's first wife, she held the title of "first lady Trump," adding, "I was first wife. I don't know what is Melania's problem. She just has to get over it. She is the First Lady of America, but I'm first lady Trump, excuse me, and have three grown-up kids."
Melania Trump’s spokesperson responded
that Melania is "honored by her role as First Lady of the United
States" and "plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell
books. There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex, this
is unfortunately only attention-seeking and self-serving noise."
