Left alliance leaders demand immediate resignation of PM Deuba

Dec 19, 2017-Left alliance leaders of CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) have demanded immediate resignation of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Speaking at an interaction organised at the Reporters’ Club in the Capital on Tuesday, Maoist Centre leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi said that PM Deuba should resign on moral group respecting people’s mandate as the left alliance has mustered around two-thirds majority in the recently held parliamentary and provincial elections.

Saying that economic prosperity is the need of the hour, leader Rayamajhi demanded coordination, unity and cooperation among all the political parties.

He suggested that the parties should find a middle path to take the national assembly ordinance ahead rather than by majority system or single transferable voting system.

“The issue should be resolved by understanding rather than single transferable voting system or majority system,” leader Rayamajhi said.

On the occasion, UML leader Mahesh Basnet said, “PM Deuba should not stay in power for long, he should resign at the earliest.”

“People want political stability and development in the country,” he said, adding, “We felt that conspiracies are being hatched to stop the left alliance from carrying out development works.”

He also suggested the Nepali Congress to discuss its weaknesses rather than wasting time in pointing fingers to others.

Former Minister for Industry Basnet claimed that the new government would be formed under the leadership of party Chairman KP Sharma Oli by January 21.

Saying that the national assembly ordinance presented to President Bidya Devi Bhandari was against the people’s mandate, he said that the party which has presented the ordinance does not have majority.
